I’ve witnessed the devastating effects of climate change firsthand, particularly during my visit to India. The heat, pollution, and environmental degradation were eye-opening. I chose to focus on trees because they are a critical solution for mitigating climate change, supporting biodiversity, improving air quality, and fostering community engagement. The green economy starts with individual actions.”

Afforestation Movement – Kenya

In March 2023, Brian Muhumuza Bishanga, through Kyarimpa Cares, advanced environmental conservation and social impact across East Africa. During his visit to Kenya, he spearheaded an afforestation campaign that planted 2,000 fruit and medicinal trees in the Kitengela region. The initiative not only tackled the urgent challenge of climate change but also inspired local communities to take part in environmental stewardship.

This effort was realized in collaboration with the Uganda National Forestry Authority (NFA), the Judith Heard Foundation, and the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA)—earning recognition from policymakers and environmental advocates alike.

Brian’s visit coincided with the Forty Under 40 Africa Awards in Nairobi, where his agency, BM Publications, celebrated five client nominations, three of which won. Despite the event’s entertainment focus, Brian leveraged the platform to amplify environmental awareness, engaging schools and churches in Kitengela with a message of climate responsibility.

Climate Change Advocacy in Schools

As part of the same mission, the Kyarimpa Cares team visited Life 4 Kids Homeschool, where they donated educational materials and delivered talks on climate change, tree care, and the role of youth in combating droughts across East Africa. Students were empowered to become ambassadors of afforestation, carrying the message forward within their communities.

The mission also extended to New Life Pentecostal Church, where Brian met with Archbishop Dr. Dan Migosi, who commended the team for instilling environmental consciousness in the next generation.

This campaign was strengthened through partnerships with leaders like Hon. Antony Buluma Samba, President of KYPA, and emphasized reforestation not just as an environmental priority, but as a global call to action.

Humanitarian Awards – Global Collaboration

Kyarimpa Cares partnered with leading mental health advocates and philanthropists—Judith Heard (Uganda), Anitta Neshiri (Zimbabwe), and Leona Buhenzire (Uganda). Together with BM Publications, their advocacy was elevated to the international stage through nominations at the Humanitarian Awards Global in Ghana, spotlighting their impact in advancing mental health awareness and community resilience.
